VF-103 F-14The "Jolly Rogers" have been a popular subject for photographers. Their dynamic markings have always made for sensational images. As a result, they are arguably one of the most recognized squadrons in the world.

In this particular photograph, CDR Tom "D-Day" Lucas pilots his F-14 over an oil refinery in the desert. A "Jolly Roger" since his days with VF-84, he made the transition over to VF-103 along with several other members when the name changed over. In the F-14, CDR Lucas has served as both Radar Intercept Officer and pilot.

In addition to the many photographs featuring the squadron, "Jolly Rogers" aircraft have been featured in such films as The Final Countdown (1980) and Executive Decision (1996).
